Live Like the Locals in a Vacation Rental
Vacation rentals are usually houses or condos that you can rent for a period of time (usually two weeks) and they are in many locations across the world. Often, you can exchange your own home with another family or couple, if you are so lucky as to live in an interesting place. Vacation rentals can also be owned by a few people not related to each other. It's usually clearly stated in the contract how long you can stay there and at what time of the year. Some vacation rentals are homes that are entirely owned by a person or family, but at a resort and they are managed by an onsite group of people. This way, when the owner isn't staying at the home, the management company will rent it out and the owner gets the profits. As with timeshares, there are a huge number of differences between types of vacation rentals, so study all of the details thoroughly before committing to one. Make sure that the location will be one you like to stay at, for most of your vacations
