You can apply for passports through the mail, if you are in the U.S. Many auto agencies will be able to take passport photos. Check with your local government as to when to get the forms, and how long you should allow before you get the passport. In the U.S. you can pick up passport forms from post offices (usually). Because busy travel seasons may cause delays in getting your passport of visas, try to get that all sorted out well before you go. This also means that usually, if it's off-season for travel, than passport offices are less busy. When you get your passport, check it over to make sure that the information inside is correct. Keep your passport safe in an inner pocket or fanny pack. You can put your money and other travel documents in there as well Try and keep the number of your own country's embassy handy in case you need to call them when you get to a foreign country. This helps if you encounter passport problems, or lose it.
